Planned Undergraduate Major in Biomedical Engineering

The faculty, the staff, and the graduate students are all excited by the prospect of beginning an undergraduate major program in Biomedical Engineering.

As we develop and teach courses and laboratories for the first time, we will begin with a small cadre of just 25 exceptional students that are willing and able to take on the dual role of a student ad pioneer.

Our enthusiasm to begin is tempered only by the uncertainty over when that will be. The plan was developed in Fall 2006, and has been vetted on-campus, with suggestions and improvements made as part of the approval process. In addition to approval by the OSU University Senate (granted on February 7, 2008), we still require approval by the OSU Board of Trustees, the Ohio Board of Regents and the Chancellor before we can admit students into the program.

However, in order to give students time to plan for the start of the program - whenever that happens! - we are providing detailed information about our plans in BME.
